Clemson vs.

ATLANTA – Fourth-placed Clemson began a break away from the feisty Georgia Tech team, scoring 10 points in the third quarter to make it 24-10. Tigers quarterback DJ Uiagalelei had ups and downs, but he capped a nine-play, 74-yard run with a 9-yard touchdown late in the frame to give his team some cushion.

Relegation was crucial for the Tigers who had little success in keeping the drives. For the first time all night, coach Dabo Sweeney ramped up his rhythm and held the Georgia Tech defense that had been on the field long enough for Oyagalelli to make plays when he needed to.

Clemson’s line of defense was tough on this line. The Tigers have seven tackles to lose, one of which was a sack, and they limited the Yellow Jackets to just four yards per game. The Jackets’ running game was in the slack, with five players converging for just 67 yards on 21 holders averaging 3.2 yards per carry. Widely considered one of the best in the game, Clemson’s defensive line appears on Labor Day night.
