The San Francisco Giants made a pair of extras on Friday, signing Michael Conforto to a two-year contract, worth $36 million and a left-handed reliever Taylor Rogers to a three-year, $33 million deal, sources confirmed to ESPN.
Conforto’s contract includes opting out after the 2023 season, sources tell ESPN’s Buster Olney.
Conforto joins the Giants after missing the 2022 season following shoulder surgery in April. He became a free agent last season after turning down a qualifying offer of $18.4 million from the New York Mets.
The deal, which was struck between the Giants and agent Scott Boras, follows other high-profile clients of Boras, Carlos Correa, to sign a 12-year, $315 million contract with the Mets. An earlier 13-year, $350 million deal with the Giants collapsed earlier this week after Boras told the New York Post that there was a “difference of opinion” regarding Correa’s body.
Meanwhile, Rogers will be joined by his twin brother, a right-hand man Tylerin the giants parking lot.
Conforto, 29, played his first seven seasons in New York, where he was a . 255 hitter with 132 home runs, 396 RBIs, and a 0.824 OPS. He made his first and only All-Star Team in 2017. He was injured in training in January before deciding to undergo surgery.
Rogers, 32, spent the 2022 season with the San Diego Padres and Milwaukee Brewers, going 4-8 with a 4.76 ERA. He spent the previous six seasons with the Minnesota Twins and has a 3.42 ERA in 385 career appearances.
USA Today first reported on Conforto’s signing, while The Athletic first reported that Rogers would join San Francisco.
