Amy Schumer, Regina Hall, Opening of the 2022 Academy Awards at Wanda Sykes

After three years of monologues without a host at the Oscars, it’s time for funny jokes and the audience’s awkward laughter.

Amy Schumer, Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes join Hosting the 2022 Oscars On Sunday, March 27th. The trio was announced as the leaders of the show last month, making history the first time three women have hosted Hollywood’s prestigious evening.

Presented by DJ Khaled, the three funny women spoke to the star-studded audience at Los Angeles’ Dolby Theater and they definitely had a lot to say.

“This year the academy hired three women to host it because it’s cheaper than hiring one man,” Schumer, 40, said. “I represent unbearable white women who call the police when your voice gets louder.”

“Lots of disdain this year,” Sykes, 58, said of the nominations, name-dropping Jared Leto and Lady Gaga. “House of random dialects,” she said.

Describing the Oscars as “a place where movie lovers unite and watch TV,” Sykes said she’s “watched The Power of Dog three times,” but is still “in the middle of it.”

Hall, 51, mocked “Space Jam 2” and “the hairline they gave LeBron James.”

“The Black Twitter is going to love that guy,” Sykes said, and Schumer asked, “What is that?”

The hosts mocked Samuel L. Jackson’s lack of action in the controversial romantic comedy and Golden Globes. “Do you know what’s in this year’s In-Memoriam package? Golden Globes,” Schumer joked.

Schumer was the first to take the podium alone, joking that she was the second-choice candidate because “Melissa McCarthy wasn’t available” and took a big hit at Leonardo DiCaprio. “He is working on leaving a greener planet for his girlfriends,” noting that they are all younger than him.
