A preview of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series in New Hampshire on Sunday

LOUDON, N.H. (WWLP) – It’s a racing weekend in New Hampshire, and drivers are gearing up for the only NASCAR race in New England.

It’s an exciting day Sunday in Loudoun. The NASCAR Cup Series season reaches the halfway point with racing here at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Sunday.

The weather has been a big issue this weekend and that will continue on Sunday. The drivers were only able to do a few practice sessions on Saturday before the rain hit. It was even forced to cancel the cup qualifiers.

So, on Sunday, series points leader Chase Elliott will start on the pole. Ryan Blaney will share the front row in the second starting spot. Team Penske teammate Joey Logano explained how important starting position is here on such a flat track.

“We’re talking about how close the cars are. If you’re just a tenth faster than the car in front of you, you probably won’t be able to get around it. If you can start in front of those cars, it changes your whole day,” Longano said. “It helps your strategy, it helps with Choose to procrastinate.”

Logano calls this his hometown track because he’s a New England guy, and the drivers will be dealing with that New England weather on Sunday. Rain and storms are expected to continue.

NASCAR decided to postpone the race by a half-hour to try to run it before the storms. The green flag is scheduled to fly at 2:06 here in Loudoun.
