Brandon Sanderson, the fantasy and sci-fi author who Soulsborne fans have been hoping will collaborate with FromSoftware in the future, has been trying it out Shadow of Erdtree’s Elden Ring Downloadable Content (DLC), adding more fuel to the fire amidst the clamor of those hoping to cooperate.
Sanderson is arguably best known for the Mistborn series, but his bibliography is enormous – he’s also the author of The Stormlight Archive series, as well as the last three books in Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time series. FromSoftware fans already started talking about his potential involvement in a future project shortly after Elden Ring’s release, when he revealed that publisher Bandai Namco had reached out to him with some good things about Elden Ring, and a note to say. “They’re interested in maybe doing something together.” “I am,” he confirmed at the time, and even revealed it He had a field ready to go In his head.
With that in mind, it’s great to see Sanderson playing through Shadow of the Erdtree, and doing a really solid job as well. He streamed nearly four hours of the expansion over the weekend, which he was able to beat A notoriously difficult optional boss that causes trouble for Elden Ring veterans everywhere, as well as the first major story boss in downloadable content. While the latter took about an hour to beat, considering that he entered the DLC as a level 80 character (in our guide, We recommend starting at around level 150), that’s some seriously impressive progress. He’s confirmed that he’ll be back to play more of it as well, so it looks like more streams are on the way.

While Sanderson playing through the DLC is obviously not confirmation that any FromSoftware collaboration will actually happen, Elden Ring director Hidetaka Miyazaki recently spoke about the potential for the studio to work with other key creators on future projects on a new game GameSpot interview. Elden Ring itself was of course created in collaboration with A Song of Fire and Ice author George RR Martin, who was the mastermind behind building the RPG’s world. Miyazaki praised it in the interview, and went on to say that the studio would do it “Definitely be open to exploring” working with other creatives In the future, though, he did not mention Sanderson by name even though it was brought up in the question.
If the collaboration FromSoftware He was For Sanderson, this wouldn’t be the first time he’s helped in a game. he Collaborated with the developers of Subnautica, Unknown Worlds Entertainment, to create the lore and world of Moonbreaker – a turn-based strategy game that was released earlier this year on Steam. Obviously, as hinted before, the author already has ideas when it comes to what he’ll do in a Soulsborne game, so we’ll just have to wait and see if they come to fruition.
