Boston Red Sox Left-handed Chris Seal will miss the remainder of the 2022 season after undergoing surgery to repair a broken right wrist caused by a bicycle accident.

On Monday, August 8, Boston Red Sox player Chris Seal underwent an open reduction and internal fixation for a fracture of the right distal radius (wrist). This procedure was performed by Dr. Matthew Lippmann at the Newton-Wesley Outpatient Surgery Center in Wellesley, Massachusetts.
Sal suffered his injury during a bicycle accident on Saturday, August 6th. He will miss the remainder of the 2022 season, but is expected to be ready to start spring training in 2023.
Red Sox CEO Haim Blum provided more details to local media on Tuesday morning:
Sal, 33, was already on the list with a broken finger he suffered in July during only his second start to the season. Prior to that, Sale was sidelined with a right rib stress fracture that has kept it on the shelf for three months or more this season. Elbow problems that first surfaced in August of 2019 and eventually required Tommy John’s surgery to sell throughout the 2020 season and limit it to just nine in 2021.
Put another way, cuts have been thrown since the start of this lost 2020 season to just 48 1/3 rounds to Boston in the regular season. Selling still seems to be able to promote on an ace-ish level when it’s healthy, but health has clearly been out of reach in recent years.

The sale was signed during at least the 2024 season in Boston, and his contract includes an option maturity of 2025. At least, he owes $55 million after that season.
The Red Sox as of this writing qualifies as long hostages. They enter Tuesday’s list with a 54-56 record, minus 30 running teams, and last-place status in the American Eastern League. The sports line The drop system currently gives Boston a 9.0 percent chance of expanding the field post-season.
