Cowboys’ Dak Prescott treats his thumb injury: ‘I’m sure I’ll come out of this better’

Dak Prescott suffered a thumb injury in the Dallas Cowboys’ loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday and is expected to be out for several weeks.

It will be the second time in his career that Prescott has missed a significant time as he sustained a horrific ankle injury during the 2020 season. After the 19-3 loss, Prescott addressed reporters with a crew on his right hand. He has been diagnosed With a fracture of the right thumb.

“Yeah, it’s very disappointing, but injuries happen. They can’t necessarily be controlled. Just unfortunate. I’m obviously going to miss some time, not being there for my team. That hurts more than anything, especially after that,” Prescott said via Pro Football Talk.

“I wanted to be able to respond and not necessarily have that opportunity for several weeks. Yes, it is a pity, but I will do what I have always done any time adversity comes. Take it upon yourself first, I will give my best, and I am sure I will get out of This is better.”

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said the injury wasn’t the end of the season, but he will miss some matches.

Prescott said he thought he had “disturbed” his thumb when he sustained the injury about 6 minutes before the end of the game.

“I mean, I’ve hurt a lot of bodies, a lot in my career, and I’ve never really had anything [except] Maybe it was a jammed finger, and I actually thought that was what it was,” he said. The next play I realized I can’t control the ball, let the team know. Then, when I got off, I told the coaches the same thing. I said: I can’t control it. I feel like if you removed it I would be fine, and I went in and got x-rays and things were different. “
