Critical role in Mighty Nein Show Greenlit in Amazon Under TV, Film Deal

Amazon has made a great embrace of decisive role Cinematic world.

Amazon Studios has announced an exclusive multi-year comprehensive TV and First Look movie deal with Critical Role, the media company and D&D group behind Prime Video’s popular adult animated series “The Legend of Vox Machina.”

The first new series to be produced under the agreement is “Mighty Nine’, based on Critical Role’s second campaign that ran from January 2018 to mid-2021. Only the Mighty Adventurers – a group of criminals and misfits – can stop the kingdom from descending into chaos when a mysterious artifact capable of is set to remake reality in the wrong hands. ‘Mighty Nein’ is set to begin production soon in partnership with animation studio Titmouse, who collaborated with Critical Role and Amazon Studios on ‘Vox Machina.’ The series will premiere exclusively on Prime Video. However, there is no release date yet.

Critical Role’s first animated series, “The Legend of Vox Machina,” is based on their first D&D campaign, which the group aired live from 2015 to 2017. Season 1 premiered January 2022 on Prime Video (and is still Holds 100% Critics Score on Rotten Tomatoes), and The second season, along with the first three episodes, debuted on January 20. The third season of “Vox Machina” was officially announced at New York Comic Con and is currently in production.

Under the deal with Amazon Studios, Critical Role will continue to produce under its production banner, Metapigeon, which will develop its own TV shows, films and original content while continuing to “partner with talented creators on a new slate of projects, in and out of the Critical Role realm,” according to the companies.

The upcoming “Mighty Nein” series will be produced by Tasha Huo, Sam Riegel, and Willingham, along with Metapigeon and Amazon Studios. from Titmouse, and Chris Prynoski (“Legend of Vox Machina”), Shannon Prynoski (“Fairfax”), Antonio Canobio (“Arlo the Alligator Boy”) and Ben Kalina (“Big Mouth”) will also executive produce.
