Duke Blue Devils men, UConn Huskies women to compete in college basketball events at Jimmy V Classic

The games for the 2022 Jimmy V College Classic men’s and women’s basketball events were announced Thursday, featuring Duke on the men’s side and a pair of top 10 potential encounters on the women’s side.

The men’s double championship will take place on December 6 at Madison Square Garden, where the Dukes face Iowa and Texas with Illinois. The Women’s Games will be hosted at campus locations on December 4th: UConn in Notre Dame and Virginia Tech in Tennessee.

The upcoming season marks the first time since 1980 that Duke has been coached by someone other than Mike Krzyzewski, with John Shire taking over the role. The Blue Devils brings in the #1 ranked recruiting category in the country and ranks #5 in ESPN’s latest Way-Too-Early Top 25.

The Longhorns and Fighting Illini are also ranked in the Way-Too-Early Top 25. Chris Bird and Texas brought back three Novices from last season’s 22-win team, while also welcoming two Novices to five-star and elite transfers. Therese Hunter from Iowa.
