‘I hope he still loves me’

Things got heated up on the Ravens side after collapsing from 17 points at the top Sunday 23-20 loss to buffalo bills.

As time passes in front of you Tyler BassBills game winning field goal, Ravens coach John Harbaugh and Cornerback Marcus Peters I entered it on the sidelines. CBS caught Harbaugh saying something to Peters that Peters clearly didn’t appreciate. Peters then bumped his helmet into the grass and had to catch him as he tried to get close to the Ravens coach.

After the match, Harbaugh spoke about the incident while telling reporters that he and his All-Pro linebacker were “on the same page.”

“Emotions are running high,” Harbo said. “We’re on the same page. We have a great relationship. We have an honest relationship. And I love him. I hope he keeps loving me. We’ll see.”

Harbo did not address the reason for the exchange or what was said exactly. Peters did not speak with reporters after the match.

What triggered Peters outburst?

The loss included some strategic Ravens decisions that didn’t work, most notably a late gamble to land when a field goal was giving Baltimore the lead.

With the game tied at 20-20, Baltimore faced a fourth and goal from the Buffalo 2-yard streak with 4:16 remaining in regulation. Field Goal Chip Shot by Best Shooting Player in the Game Justin Tucker He would have given the Ravens a 23-20 lead. Instead, Harbaugh chose to go for the landing. Then Lamar Jackson threw an objection to the safety of the Bills Jordan Boyer in the end zone.

Long after returning or picking six, the outcome of the play was a worst-case scenario for Baltimore. Coming out short with no turnover would have stuck the bills within the 2-yard line, an outcome that was certainly taken into account in Harbaugh’s decision to roll the dice. Instead, Buffalo started her subsequent drive from the 20-yard line when the spin resulted in a touchdown. The Bills then walked 77 yards and drained the clock before the Bass converted a 21-yard field goal with time out.

Why did Harbo pass on goal?

Harbo explained the decision to reporters.

“I felt it gave us the best chance of winning the match by seven [points]the worst thing that happens is if they go down the field and score – and I think we’re going to stop them – but if they go down the field and score a touchdown, the worst thing that can happen is you’re in overtime.

“You shoot a field goal in there, now it’s not a three-point game anymore, it’s a four-point game. You put them there, you put your defense at a disadvantage because they’ve had four defeats that turn all the way down the field and a chance to score seven again, and then you lose the game. upon landing.

It was an analytics decision and it didn’t work out for the Ravens on Sunday. Was this the cause of Peters’ annoyance? There may be a subsequent decision by the Ravens’ defense.

Ravens deal with Singletary instead of letting him score

Had the Bills actively sought to land once they hit the red zone on their final drive, the Ravens could have let them clock in with the clock to make a response. The 8-yard run by Devin Singletary to the 3-yard line was Buffalo’s best chance of doing so and he would have left nearly 1:50 on the clock to attack Baltimore. But the defenders of the Bells coped with him.

It is not clear if Singletary will score or have instructions to give himself off the goal line to employ a time-burning strategy. But that’s the strategy Biles used after his run. They ran multiple plays within the 3-yard line to burn the clock after Baltimore used its deadline.

Nor is it clear whether one or both decisions provoked Peters – or whether his anger was entirely irrelevant. But the Ravens lost two games in three weeks to the biggest competition in the Asian Football Confederation in matches in which they advanced by double digits. They lost to the Miami Dolphins in the second week after leading 28-7 in the first half.

It is easy to see why tensions are so high.
