Instead of hugging and kissing his girlfriend, as most potential clients do when they are recruited, he showed safety and his longtime girlfriend their handshake.
It was no ordinary handshake. Their steps were multiple, ending with a piece of cloth. The video quickly went viral on social media, with many replies calling the celebration “marital goals”.
Once the handshake was completed, Hamilton left immediately to go to pick up the Ravens hat and shirt from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

At his introductory press conference for the Ravens, Hamilton explained how he and his girlfriend Reese devised the handshake. The couple have been together for about six years.
“So my boyfriend, Reese, Rhys Dam, and I started dating in our second year of high school, and I think we got into a first-year handshake or something,” Hamilton said. “So, we’ve been doing it ever since and just decided it seemed like the right time to do it.”
The safety team finished their three seasons at Notre Dame with a total of 138 tackles and eight interceptions.
