Logitech’s new handheld cloud games leaked weeks after the company teased them Working on the new device. Logitech G and Tencent Games confirmed their plans for a dedicated mobile device earlier this month, and now Evan Blass tweeted Mobile device images revealing access to the Google Play Store, along with Xbox Cloud Gaming support and Nvidia’s GeForce Now service.
The Logitech G Gaming Handheld looks about the same size as a Nintendo Switch and has a Switch-like user interface where you can scroll through apps and games. One of the leaked images shows the Chrome and YouTube apps, along with the Xbox, Nvidia, and Steam icons. While Blass tweeted photos of the mobile device, Logitech was quick at it File a DMCA Complaint to remove it from Twitter (thus confirming the device’s authenticity).
Access to Google Play means that this mobile device should be able to play the latest mobile games locally, along with its focus on cloud gaming. Logitech never mentioned Android support earlier this month, opting instead to focus on its support for multiple cloud gaming services.
The white mobile device includes two analog thumb sticks, D-Pad buttons, and Y, B, A and X buttons. There are also four buttons on the front: Logitech, Home, Menu, and a context menu button. There are also two shock absorber and two start buttons, like most modern consoles.
It’s not immediately clear from leaked images the screen size on the Logitech G Gaming Handheld, but one of the images reveals the presence of a mute switch and a microSD card expansion slot.
Logitech handheld games could be one of the first to use Qualcomm’s new G3x platform. announced last yearDesigned for mobile devices similar to Steam Deck or Switch, the new G3x chip has an Adreno GPU capable of running the latest mobile games. We’ve only seen a Razer developer kit so far running the G3x, with a 6.65-inch OLED display that can run at 120Hz.
Either way, Logitech promises to launch it later this year. The G Gaming Handheld leak from Logitech comes months after Valve launched the Steam Deck, which transformed PC gaming on the go. Steam Deck supports cloud gaming services like Stadia and Xbox Cloud Gamingbut there is definitely room for an Android alternative that can also play cloud games and not depend on your phone.
