Manny Pacquiao vs. DK Yoo: Comprehensive live updates

MMA Fighting has Manny Pacquiao vs. DK Yoo live updates round after round for their boxing match taking place this Saturday at the Korea International Exhibition Center in Goyang, South Korea.

The main card starts around 10pm ET on FITE TV’s pay-per-view, so the main event will likely start around midnight. DraftKings Sportsbook Do not offer odds to fight.

Manny Pacquiao is competing for the first time since retiring from professional boxing in 2021 after losing a unanimous decision to Yordenis Ugás. At 43 years old, Pacquiao is one of the greatest professional boxers of all time, compiling a career record of 62-8-2 while becoming the only boxer in history to win 12 major titles in eight different weight classes.

DK Yoo is a South Korean martial artist who will debut in the boxing ring.

first round: Your referee for this competition is Jang Sung Kim. A respectful touch of glove to start. Two-minute rounds of exhibition quiz. Pacquiao lands the first blow with both boxers hopping in from a long distance. Pacquiao doubles the jab. U don’t have much luck finding the target. Pacquiao with left to ribs. Yu throws a straight left in response, drawing a smile from Pacquiao. Another Pacquiao shot dead, though he was careful not to get his shots.

MMA fighting score round 10-9, Pacquiao.

Second round: Pacquiao deflects Yoo’s punches and lands one of his own on Yoo’s body, then another. The former boxing champ works to take down his taller opponent. Pacquiao and Yoo’s right territory exits from the left follow-through. Jab calls for Pacquiao. Yoo releases a group of 1-2. A fast right hand landing for Pacquiao as he chases after Yoo. Yu dodges lifting Pacquiao.

Third round: Pacquiao sneaks a right hander. He rushes forward and scores with another player. A good counter left by yo. Pacquiao rips the flesh again with his left hand. He ties the shots together now on the body and head. Yu makes a respectful bow. Yu slows Pacquiao’s lead with a header. Pacquiao lands a powerful blow. Right hook by Pacquiao and his yo. Yoo takes a chance with a repeat punch and Pacquiao makes him land with a trio of short punches.

Fourth round: Pacquiao is going hard down now. Pacquiao scores with a right hook. He goes to the body and a tired Yu grabs him. Pacquiao hits another right. There is a Yoo with the right hook that connects. Pacquiao goes to the body and backs Yoo up to the edge of the ropes and hits the photographer. Yoo advances and Pacquiao counters, causing Yoo to kneel. This was a misstep. A big wave from Pacquiao to close out the round and it looked like the fight was there, but the match would go on.

MMA fighting score round 10-8, Pacquiao. Generally, 40-35 Pacquiao.

Fifth round: Yo really takes his time getting off the stool. He may not be in this for much longer. His left hand hits Yoo and he wobbles, but now he shuffles and chomps, much to Pacquiao’s amusement. Left Pacquiao falls over and over again. The ref steps in to warn Pacquiao about a shot to the back of the head. Long delay here and it’s not clear if Yoo is just buying time to recover. The fight resumes and Pacquiao leaves with only Yoo. Yu struggles to do anything besides grab Pacquiao.

Round 6: Yu hugs Pacquiao, but that doesn’t stop Pacquiao from breaking him with a few punches right out of the gate. Yu stumbles to his knees, killing more time. Pacquiao left with a monster that’s a clear knockout. Yu answers the count. Referee…give yo a time out? yes. Yoo is active in the reset, but Pacquiao blasts him with a powerful shot. Another wave of Pacquiao and Yoo goes down. You ruled a slip! This is kind of absurd. Yoo survived until the last bell (with some help).

Official result: Manny Pacquiao won. DK Yoo via unanimous decision

Pacquiao says it’s good to be back in the ring and that he will continue training to get back in shape. He’s coy about fighting again in 2023: “We’ll see.”

When asked if he thought Floyd Mayweather would take him up on a show, Pacquiao replied, “I don’t know. I have no idea because he always changes his mind.”
