MultiVersus was launched as the best selling video game in the US for the month of July

MultiVersus had a nice meteoric launch once it finally entered open beta late last month, and the release is probably better than previously thought.

According to the NPD Group, MultiVersus debuted as the best-selling video game in the United States for the month of July.

Since the NPD Group builds its rankings based on dollars made and not copies sold/downloaded, this also means that Warner Bros.’s new platform fighter. It saw a fairly large boost from sales of the Founder’s Pack, which range from $40 to $100.

MultiVersus has also managed to beat other new releases such as Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and Digimon Survive as well as Elden Ring and Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which have been dominating the charts in previous months.

When the console crashed, the big WB crossover took first place on Xbox and reached #3 on PlayStation.

This was all done in just about 12 days out of the month too, considering the MVS beta didn’t launch until July 19.

Interestingly enough, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate still continues its historic shipment through sales by reaching #12 for sales in July and #4 for Nintendo platforms.

MultiVersus isn’t the first time in recent history that a new fighting game has topped the NPD charts, like Super Smash Bros. Game Ultimate And the Mortal Kombat 11 They both did, too.

Looking at how these two games perform then, MVS will likely continue to be a solid hit in the coming months, but it would be great to see how it ends now that the game is free for everyone without having to purchase the Founder’s Pack.

Pretty much after the title first launched in Early Access, it broke the record for most concurrently-played fighting games on Steam, then He broke that record again Once the public beta hit, it reached more than 144,000 users on PCs at the same time.

Since then, the game has reached at least 10 million downloads, and that number is probably even higher now.

MultiVersus is one of the strongest starts we’ve ever seen in the genre, and with Season 1 update Being available now, WB and Player First Games will need to try and drive this momentum forward.
