The Arizona Diamondbacks On Thursday, it was announced that Nicole Hazen, wife of General Manager Mike Hazen, passed away at the age of 45.
The team announced that she had died from complications related to glioblastoma, a rare form of cancer.
She is survived by her husband, Mike, and their four sons, Charlie, John, Teddy, and Sam.
Hazen’s family said in a statement, “Nicole lived her life and loved her family with fierceness and devotion. She spent every day serving others as a mother, wife, and teacher championing good. From our family, we remain forever grateful for the love, support, and random acts of kindness we have had over the past two years and four months.” We wouldn’t have been able to go down this path with her without the help and generosity of our community.Glioblastoma slowly took over her ability to talk, walk, talk and drive, but it did not take away her ability to love her children, family and friends.We are lost without her but we will carry the torch of her inexhaustible compassion for everyone to Ahead, from this day forward.”

The Diamondbacks released the following statement regarding Nicole Hazen:
“Nicole was a beloved member of the D-backs family, and we are saddened by her passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mike, Charlie, John, Teddy, Sam and all of their extended family. Nicole will be remembered for her liveliness, kindness and beautiful smile that could light up the room. Her fighting spirit was evident at every step.” Of her courageous journey and in her efforts to make an impact on research and treatment, while providing hope for the future to those who have received a similar diagnosis. She will be remembered and honored forever.”
The team announced that information regarding plans to celebrate Nicole Hazen’s life will be forwarded at a later date.
