Tania Bardazzi, 21, had more than 95,000 followers and 2 million likes on the app.
Skydive Toronto said a skydiving student died on August 27 after “succumbing to fatal injuries they obtained from an emergency situation”. The company did not identify the student, but Melody Ozguli, Bardazi’s friend of about a decade, told CNN by phone that Bardazi was the student who died.
“The jump was a welcome recent addition to the skydive community and will be missed by the new student’s friends and fellow Skydive Toronto Inc. jumpers,” the statement read. “The team at Skydive Toronto Inc have been so affected by this incident that they have been refining their student training program for over 50 years.”
Ozguli described her as extroverted, adventurous, open-minded, always available to others, and intelligent.
“She was certainly known for how beautiful she was, but what she was known for mostly was her amazing mind. That’s the one thing everyone I spoke to mentioned, just how smart she was, how smart she was, and how smart she was,” said Ozguli, 20.
Bardazi was famous for “acquiring new hobbies,” according to Ozguli, who called her friend “a gift to the world.”
Ozguli said Bardazi’s funeral, which was held on Friday, was well attended.
βAt the party, we all wore white because she was an angel,β Ozguli said. “I think it was something unique, and that’s what Tanya was, she was unique, she was different. She was really unique.”
