WR Kadarius Toney thinks he’s back too soon

East Rutherford, NJ – New York Giants wide receiver Kadarius Tony He remains sidelined with a second hamstring injury he said occurred several weeks ago while running.

“When you get tough, things happen,” said Tony, who has missed the past four games. He will almost certainly miss Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars after missing the first two training sessions of the week.

Tony originally injured his right hamstring during training camp. He straightened the same hamstrings in the Week 2 win over the Carolina Panthers.

The most recent hamstring injury was in his left leg. It happened during training on October 5th. And Tony said it may have happened because he came back too early from a previous hamstring injury.

“Maybe it was,” he said. “Maybe it’s why I cut myself again.”

Tony is still confident that his body will cooperate moving forward. He expects to return this season, but will not put a date or timeline for his return.

He now plans to listen to his body.

“I’m just getting better now,” he said. No frustration here.

The University of Florida’s 2021 first-round test did not take place on Thursday. He was jogging in a side field with a coach during the open media training portion.

“I feel good,” said Tony. “I’m getting better every day.” “Ready to be there when we can.”

The Giants said they had no plans to put Tony in injured reserve. He has already missed four games in a row.

Tony doesn’t seem too close to making a comeback though he says he’s been running and cutting.

“He’s getting better, he’s doing a good job in rehab,” coach Brian Dabol said before training this week. “We hope to see him here soon.”

New York plays road matches against the Jaguar and Seattle Seahawks in the next two weeks before farewell week. Returning after goodbye seems more realistic.

It was a rough start to Tony’s career. He’s shot two yards this season. He has missed 11 of his 23 potential matches due to a variety of injuries and a match with COVID-19.

After Tony missed this week’s game against Jaguar, his resume will include 12 games, 12 of which he missed.

It brings that back to bad luck. Tony says he doesn’t think he could have done much to prevent these hamstring problems.

“No, not really. If you ask anyone, the best doctor or whatever, the hamstrings are really tough,” he said. “So if you feel your hamstrings are better, you may not be. You never know. It’s all about how you feel.”

Tony says he’s still doing his best, preparing as if he’s going to play.

He said, “Everything is closed. All business. Whatever you want to call it.” “I don’t give up on anyone. I don’t really care. If I’m able to get out there or not, I know what to do. Simple.”

Tony says he does things the right way. He hadn’t heard otherwise from the decision makers or coaches on the Giants team.

“At the end of the day, I go and do my job every day,” he said. “I don’t hear anything bad, so I think I should do a good job. …I prepare like it’s a game. I don’t really care…I get the feedback now and then, I guess you could say. I’m locked up. So I don’t really care. With a lot of worries right now. I’m locked up.”
