Benjamin Netanyahu vows that “no pressure” will prevent Israel from “defending itself”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu speaks at a Holocaust memorial service at the Yad Vashem memorial in Jerusalem on Sunday, May 5. He reaffirmed his willingness to continue the war despite international “pressure”.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu insisted this Sunday, May 5, that “no amount of international pressure” will prevent Israel from “defending itself.”

“I tell all world leaders that no amount of pressure, no decision of the international organization will prevent Israel from defending itself,” Benjamin Netanyahu said at a Holocaust memorial ceremony at the Yad Vashem memorial in Jerusalem.

“If Israel must be left alone, Israel will be left alone,” the Israeli prime minister insisted, while a meeting in Cairo on a proposed cease-fire for the release of hostages in the Gaza Strip ended without progress on Sunday.

He spoke this Sunday with Israeli President Emmanuel Macron, who called for a “cease” of operations in Gaza.

He also condemned “this terrible volcano of anti-Semitism” spreading around the world against Israel on Gaza, which was launched after Hamas’ unprecedented attack on Gaza on October 7.

“You shall not bind our hands in chains”

Benjamin Netanyahu compared the protests seen at universities around the world, particularly in the United States, to the discrimination Jews faced at German universities during World War II.

“What a distortion of justice and history,” he said. Criticism, he said, “is not because of our actions, but because we are … because we are Jews.”

“Today we face the enemy again,” Netanyahu told a large crowd gathered for the ceremony.

“You will not bind our hands in chains … until Israel fights human evil … and wins,” he said. “We will not defeat our genocidal enemies,” he concluded.
