Blizzard announces major changes for “Diablo 4” Season 1 and beyond

Blizzard “side chat” about Diablo 4 On Friday, which wasn’t an official stream for the developers to go over all the upcoming nerfs and hero, but they did reveal a lot of additions and quality of life changes that are coming either before, during, or after the first season.

Many of these are pain points in the community that they’re trying to address as quickly as they can, including some frequently asked questions about the upcoming season itself. Here are the highlights from the hour-long broadcast if you don’t have time to watch it all (which I did!).

  • As previously announced, Season 1 is still on track to release in mid-to-late July, though no exact date has been announced yet.
  • Nightmare Dungeons doesn’t necessarily increase mob density, but it will award more XP per monster, making it a better source for farming XP. Also, Nightmare Sigils will now teleport you straight into a dungeon instead of having you walk there, and once you’ve finished one, you can fire another cue and go straight to the next dungeon.
  • The Nercromancers’ toxic corpse pools are absurdly black, so it’s hard to see anything that’s actually wrong, and that should be fixed soon.
  • In Season 2, gems will be added to the materials tab instead of taking up space in your inventory, which is probably one of the most requested items. Also, the inventory cap is raised on many crafting materials.
  • Resistance will be buffed in Season 2, as it currently lags behind things like armor and damage reduction in terms of important stats for defense prioritization.
  • In the future, they’re looking into things like collection finders for Nightmare Dungeons and other activities.
  • For Seasonal Mode, you will already have the entire Fog of War lifted on the map and your Lilith Statues found with rewards. But dungeons, dungeons and strongholds will be repopulated. You’ll get enough fame for the first two ranks, but you’ll have to earn back the last three including Paragon Points at the end.

That’s not literally all they said, but those are definitely the highlights. They’ve promised a live stream to the developers in July before the season launches, which will reveal what the season is all about and more detailed information like upcoming nerfs and buffs. So stay tuned.
