Blizzard Dev wrote this helpful Diablo 4 item script to ‘help someone remember things will get better’

Developer Blizzard explained that the Diablo 4 item’s highlight text praises players for helping them make their day brighter.

Redditor Wholesome_Meow Post a photo The concave amulet sign, highlighting its newly carved description: “Healing is a journey. A series of steps. You may stumble some days, but as long as you keep putting one foot in front of the other, you will reach your destination.”

The post, which currently has over 1,000 votes in the Diablo 4 subreddit, prompted a number of positive responses from within the community, and it didn’t take long for the flavor script writer to take notice.

In response to the Wholesome_Meow post, Senior Quest Designer Harrison Pink took to doing just that Twitter To explain the thinking behind the text: “I wrote this special text for this person. I wrote it for me and I wrote it for you. I wrote it in hopes that it might help someone remember that things will get better.”

The concave sign is a reward for completing a side quest called a chain of steps. It is about a witch doctor named Taissa who helps an NPC deal with grief after the loss of his son. In a follow-up tweet, Pink explained the thinking behind the mission.

“I created this quest to overcome grief and trauma, and how you can’t force healing, or always slay your demons, but by accepting who you are now, you can continue to heal and move on,” Pink revealed.

Across social media, Diablo fans thanked Pink for the mission and item description, with many praising the positivity it generated. “I always hesitate to be emotionally vulnerable online, but in this case I think it counts.” Pink replied to 1 user.
