Dolly Parton withdraws nomination for Rock & Roll Hall of Fame: NPR

Country music legend Dolly Parton announced on Monday that she is leaving this year Nominations for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

at statment Posted on her social media accounts, the award-winning singer said that while she was grateful to be nominated for this year’s category, she didn’t think she “got it right”.

“I don’t really want votes to be divided because of me, so I must bow respectfully,” Barton said in her statement. “I hope the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will understand and be willing to think of me again – if I deserve it.”

NPR has reached out to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for comment, but has not received a response.

The 76-year-old singer, who was the only country artist on this year’s poll, was among several debutants in this year’s category of nominees — which also included rappers. Eminemhip hop group A tribe called Search Legendary singer, songwriter and producer Lionel Richie.

Parton said her Hall of Fame nomination inspired her “for a great rock ‘n’ roll album sometime in the future,” and that her husband, Carl Dean, “always encouraged me to do it.”

“I wish all the nominees good luck and thank you again for the compliment. Rock!” Barton Books.

Parton is one of the few individuals to have been nominated for the four awards that make up “EGOT” — an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony, according to Museum. She has received 11 Grammy Awards and 50 Grammy Award nominations, including a Lifetime Achievement Award, along with 10 Country Music Association Awards.

To be eligible for nomination into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, artists or bands must have released their first commercial recording by 1996. Music fans will be able to vote for their favorite music online, and votes will be counted along with ballots submitted by Over a thousand artists, historians, and members of the music industry worldwide.

Country artists have been included in previous Hall of Fame classes, including Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Brenda Lee and Chet Atkins.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will announce this year’s 2022 class in May, and it will be officially entered in the fall, according to its website.
