After Nvidia’s stellar earnings report and subsequent stock rally, CEO Jensen Huang predicts that the world is entering a “new era of computing.”
He says that anyone can be a programmer, just by talking to a computer, and the required functions will appear.
Programmers will no longer need to write lines of code, only to have the dreaded “failed to compile” displayed due to a missing semicolon.
How will this be done? Generative AI, Huang said during his keynote address at the Computex Forum in Taiwan on Monday.
In his first public keynote since the pandemic, Huang introduced a new AI supercomputer platform called DGX GH200, aimed at building generative AI models.
Generative AI is a type of artificial intelligence technology that can produce various types of content, including text, images, audio, and synthetic data.
“This computer doesn’t care how you program it, it will try to understand what you mean, because it has an incredibly large language model ability. So the programming barrier is incredibly low,” Huang noted.
“We’ve closed the digital divide. Everyone is a programmer. Now, you just have to say something to the computer.”
Nvidia says generative AI is “the most important computing platform of our generation” as people and businesses move to create new applications and benefit from generative AI in the process.

The company said creative professionals will be able to create images with a simple text prompt, while programmers can speed up app development and debugging efforts. Even architects can create 3D models from 2D floor plans.
“In every era of computing, you can do different things that were not possible before,” Huang said, adding that “artificial intelligence is definitely qualified.”
This era of computing is “characterized in a number of ways,” he explained.
The CEO said that generative AI is able to understand information other than just text and numbers. He added that he “can now understand multimedia, which is why this computing revolution can impact every industry.”
Unlike traditional computer application development models, which require new applications and new hardware to accommodate developments such as artificial intelligence, Huang said that generative AI will not only be able to influence new applications, but also enhance old ones.
“Every app out there is going to be better because of AI… It can work with old apps. And it will have new apps. The rate of progress, because it’s so easy to use, is why it’s growing so fast.”
