Google is preparing to hold its annual developer conference, Google I/O, next week, and it is natural that the conference will revolve entirely around artificial intelligence. The company did not hide this. Since last year’s I/O conference, it has debuted Gemini, its new, more powerful model meant to compete with OpenAI’s ChatGPT, and has delved into testing new features for search, Google Maps, and Android. We expect to hear a lot about these things this year.

Google is also likely to focus on the ways it plans to turn your smartphone into an AI-powered tool. This means more productive AI features for Google apps. Google is also testing a feature that uses artificial intelligence to call a business and wait until there is actually someone available to talk to.

This kind of thing could be bad news for devices like the Rabbit R1 and Human Ai Pin, which were recently launched and are struggling to justify their existence. Right now, the only advantage they might have is that it’s difficult (though not impossible) to use a smartphone as an AI wearable.
