James Cameron’s 100-acre estate in California is worth $33 million

Director James Cameron’s massive and one-of-a-kind estate along the California coast was recently listed for $33 million.

The 100-acre estate is located in Santa Barbara County along the Gaviota Coast, in a private residential and farming community called Hollister Ranch. Cameron and his wife, Susie Ames Cameron, purchased the property in the 1990s for about $4.4 million Wall Street Journal mentioned.

The ranch features an 8,000-square-foot main residence, five bedrooms, and seven bathrooms, along with a guest house, two barns, an equestrian facility, a farm office, and a large vegetable garden.

“This stunning parcel stands in its class as one of the most private and secure complexes on the Southern California coast,” Forbes real estate list States.

Wood and glass finishes and high vaulted ceilings within the main residence create a bright and airy atmosphere throughout its rooms. This is especially true of the oceanfront office upstairs where Cameron wrote parts of “Avatar,” according to Wall Street Journal. The property also has a large swimming pool, tennis court, multiple hiking trails and a helipad.

The couple said the Cameron family bought the property in hopes of moving from Malibu to a more rural property Wall Street Journal. Hollister Ranch’s conservation-focused approach to land ownership prohibits homeowners from developing more than 2 acres on any of the properties in the neighborhood larger than 100 acres, the ranch listing states. This has resulted in the area having more than 14,000 acres of undeveloped land.

The property is represented by Emily Kellenberger of Village Properties / Forbes Global Properties along with Jeff Kruthers of Hollister Ranch Realty.
