Kings’ Sabonis agrees to a 5-year/$217 million contract extension

Um, I don’t know, think about, in the season just this year, the breakthrough, the, the, the, progression and, you know, what have you seen in this franchise, I guess, from, you know, the time I got to, uh, as You know, where you are now. It’s been a great ride, you know, since uh since it started, um I put it back on the map and everyone who watches it and uh knows more about Sacramento, and the Kings, and the fans, and the city, you know, that, that’s the coolest part about it. Thomas, how fast do you think your finger will have surgery or recovery, if that, I have an appointment next to go check it out and see what the next steps are, uh to get healthy. And then for you, I know having everyone together in the last off-season really pushed yourselves for the season you had. Do you expect the same in the off season too? Uh sure, of course, there will be s*** times during the months and in the summer when we can get as many guys as we can, you know, do two or three little things, you know, um more we can do that’ll be better, you know , but it depends on the guys’ plans and who’s here and what’s not. But that would certainly be a great goal again. Once when you kind of think about this series. You guys obviously went seven times and it was quite a challenge for you at times. Or how did you manage to process that over the past day? Just think about that and maybe how you handle things in the off-season. Um yeah, sure, like I said, it’s great that we did that, but it’s things at the same time because we knew we had so many opportunities to put it away or even finish it, you know, and it definitely hurts. But there’s a lot to learn from the *** series, you know, and there’s definitely going to be a lot to work on this summer. Are you excited about the future, you know, with another season or a full season here under your belt and the substance that you have and what you’ve been able to achieve this year, how much excitement does that give you for it, for next year? Uh so excited and I feel like as the year went on we got better and learned more about each other’s likes and dislikes. So, to start the year really knowing all that, you know, and adding things in the summer, it’s going to be very helpful, uh, the coaching staff is aware of your inclinations, and we know them, you know, it will, it will definitely help, you know, especially with summer coming on really Singles as you look back on the series, what are some of the things you’d like to work on in the off-season to, you know, improve a game? Obviously, um, my shooting, you know, you have the confidence to go out, and, uh, shoot that shot, you know, um, if they were, if they respected my shooting more, you know, maybe we would have gone through what we did all along The season, you know, instead of playing big, you know, we’ve been playing like I was during the season. So that would have helped us a lot, develop chemistry with our shooters in situations where teams are going to play us or try to get rid of us and B s**t from us, you know, we have to have an option ready and then, obviously the defense is working on It’s, you know, getting in shape more, you know, staying power. I feel like we’ve grown a lot over this playoff series, with our defense and if we can maintain that through the year, it would help us a lot. Always this will get out of the way real quick. Draymond Green had comments about not shaking your hand after the game. I finish. Do you hear these comments? Interested in these comments or interested in responding to them? Or I mean, I don’t know, you know, after the game, you know, or they’re all, I mean, I can’t even respond, and then, uh, your relationship with Keegan Murray over the course of this year is something that at least I paid a lot of attention to. How proud are you, of his development, his growth, and how far you can see him moving forward. Uh, he was amazing, you know, even as the series went on, you know, he got his confidence back and he wasn’t just shooting triples, you know, he was dribbling, he was getting into traffic, you know, shooting mid-range float shots, you know, All these hard shots he hasn’t really made all year. Seeing that is something you can see and anticipate for next year, you know, to be more active with the ball, you know. Well, that would open up a lot of things for us, was it when you were first traded here that one of the first things that came out of your mouth did you think you found your home in the NBA? How are you doing on that front? Do you think this is your NBA home? Oh yes. You know, it was a s***, it was a great time here. You know, I’ve loved everything since then, since I was traded here. You know, the things we’ve accomplished so far have been amazing. The city, the masses. It all depends, you know, on the summer and the decisions that are going to be made. Um, when you think about what you’ve been able to achieve this season, and you know, it’s usually a busy summer for you, you know, playing outside and playing FIBA, that kind of thing. Um, how do you look at next summer just looking at whether or not your hand requires surgery, if you, if you, if you can play, you can do all that sort of thing. Like, will this summer *** be comfortable for you? Will that be a busy schedule ***? Uh, summer is never relaxing. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm The wait to get back to the gym, you know, start working and getting ready. So it all depends on how this meeting goes, you know, with my hands, if they do surgery or not, maybe they don’t, but you have to rest or you have to have surgery. So, everything will depend on that and then I can make my plans because there will be rehab waiting several weeks in the cast. So, you know, I’ll know, I’ll know more in a couple of weeks ***, and just for you. Like, how loud do you feel? Uh, it will be in terms of wanting to be heard in the off-season, maybe guidance from the team. That sort of thing is kind of the face of this franchise. Um, you know, and West have been great with me ever since, ever since I came here, I’ve asked my opinion on things related to the coaching staff, the players, you know. So, I don’t think it’s going to change much, you know, and if they want to give my opinion, I’m going to speak up. Yeah, that’s what, where have you seen deer grow more this year? And what do you think his roof is, he continues, likely to be on this path that he appears to be on. Obviously everyone knows, in the fourth quarter, he’s done a great job this year, you know, he’s been one of the best and consistent players to come out and play every game at such a high level. I think that’s it, that’s more, more growth that you’ve seen, you know, he’s been talking about team leadership, you know, in, in, in the dressing room as well where a lot of people don’t see it. So, only he is ready to fill those shoes and take ownership. Hmmm, it was amazing to see him. Thank you. Thank you.
