Australian police have announced the arrest of a 15-year-old boy. The suspect was treated for hand injuries and taken to safety after the attack sparked outrage among worshippers.

At least two police officers were hospitalized and vehicles were damaged during violent protests following Monday's stabbing attack at an Assyrian church in Sydney, Australian police said. Officers were injured as people threw “bottles, bricks and other objects”, said New South Wales State Police Senior Superintendent Andrew Holland.
The injured are believed to be between the ages of 20 and 70.
The reason for the attack is unknown.

The latter serves at Christ the Good Shepherd Church in Wakeley. It is a parish affiliated with the Assyrian Church of the East, which today has between 250,000 and 400,000 believers worldwide.
Police are expected to hold a press conference in the coming hours, Le Parisien reported.
The Christ the Good Shepherd Church Mass was broadcast live on the institution's Facebook account.
Images of the attack were broadcast on social networks, especially on X.
The victims suffered “non-life-threatening injuries,” police said.

Multiple injured in stabbing at Sydney church
The attack was carried out in Wagli district. Four people were injured and the suspect was arrested.
