It is rumored that the Google Pixel 7a will be launched alongside the Pixel Tablet and Pixel Fold at Google I/O 2023 in a few days. However, almost everything about the phone has leaked in all its glory, including hands-on images, marketing materials, and more. For its part, Google has only confirmed that a new Pixel phone will launch on May 11 in India. Now, to make matters worse, first impression videos of the upcoming Google mediocre guard have also surfaced online before they even debut.

Surprisingly, the YouTuber notes that the Pixel 7a’s screen bezels are larger than the Pixel 6a’s. As for the cameras, he says the photos from the primary and ultra-wide photographers are great, with the selfie camera also capable of recording 4K videos. Unlike the Pixel 7 series, there is no Action or Cinematic mode on the budget Pixel.
In another video, YouTuber PKB reviews tear down the Pixel 7a to reveal the internal design changes. While it’s common for phones to leak before their announcement, it’s rare for even breakout videos to surface before their official debut.
Like the Pixel 6a, the Pixel 7a can be disassembled from the front to replace the screen. You won’t have to tear down the phone to perform this common fix. On the flip side, just like the Pixel 6a and Pixel 7 series, the Pixel 7a’s USB-C port is soldered to the logic board, making it unnecessarily complicated to repair or replace.
The video also gives a clear look at the Pixel’s new mid-range 64MP primary camera with OIS. Compared to its 12.2MP predecessor, the new sensor is much larger.
Despite the major hardware upgrade, the Pixel 7a’s internal layout is similar to the 6a’s. PBKReviews gives the Pixel 7a a repairability score of 7.5 out of 10. For comparison, the Pixel 6a scored 7 points for repair in its disassembly video.
At this point, there isn’t much left for Google to reveal about the Pixel 7a at its annual developer conference on May 10th. Given the way the phone has leaked in the past few days, its pricing and availability details may leak before the next day. Official unveiling as well.
