Overwatch 2 is getting a Cowboy Bebop co-op next week

Today, Blizzard revealed a nifty trailer for Overwatch 2's next big collaboration event with fan-favorite '90s anime series, Cowboy Bebop. The special collaboration will launch as part of Overwatch 2 Season 9 on March 12.

In typical Overwatch fashion, the Cowboy Bebop collaboration trailer parodies animation studio Sunrise's iconic opening anime scene and the opening theme song “Tank” by director Yoko Kanno. In it, we see Cassidy as the bounty hunter, Spike Spiegel; Ash is the femme fatale, Faye Valentine; Moga as the tough ex-cop, Jett Black; Wrecking Ball as the super-intelligent hound, Ain; and Sombra as the crew's rampaging hacker, Ed.

Blizzard first revealed that a Cowboy Bebop collaboration is on the horizon in The Season 9 trailer ends in February. The upcoming collaboration marks the second time the free-to-play shooter hero will do an anime-themed crossover event. In fact, around this time last year, Overwatch 2 launched its One Punch Man collaboration. Aside from the two anime collaborations, Overwatch 2's most recent big crossover was with K-Pop group Le Sserafim.

While Blizzard has yet to reveal whether the Cowboy Bebop collaboration will see the addition of a new limited-time game mode like the One Punch Man and Le Sserafim event, the collaboration's trailer and description text on YouTube tease the Overwatch heroes are gearing up of sorts. Of train robbery.

Arguably one of the main things that will be on the minds of hardcore Overwatch 2 players is how much the yet-to-be-seen exclusive anime skins will cost and whether they will still be locked behind a season pass package as steep as the controversial game. $40 for Diablo IV co-op. The answers to these questions will likely emerge when Overwatch 2 Season 9 launches next week.
