Pixel 7 custom speech recognition improves Google Assistant

Google Assistant is Use On-device personal speech recognition on the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro to better recognize your speaking style and unique words and phrases.

This may include names of people and places that are less common or unique to you. Google’s custom speech recognition feature works by “saving and learning from Assistant interactions, including voice, securely on your device.” Typed queries and other recognized text are also used.

For example, you might correct an acronym when you ask the Google Assistant for something, or specify a suggested alternative to a place name when using the Assistant to navigate.

Google encourages users to correct the Assistant by “selecting a suggestion slide, modifying text directly in the Assistant’s interaction, or repeating your question back-to-back”.

Google Assistant can use your past corrections to learn from its mistakes and improve over time.

This feature is enabled during the Google Assistant setup process on the Pixel 7 or 7 Pro. It can be turned off by going to Assistant Settings On Pixel 7> You are > Recognize your speech > Personal Speech Recognition locked works.

Disabling will delete “any assistant interactions that were used to train the model” from your phone.
