Rebecca Ferguson went viral during her “Dune: Part Two” press tour in late February after she revealed on “Reign With Josh Smith” that she once had a “goofy” co-star who made her cry during filming. The story led to a guessing game across social media platforms, as people tried to figure out exactly who Ferguson was talking about, though the actor recently said on SiriusXM “The Jess Cagle Show” She “did not expect” this would be the outcome of her comments.
“Number one, yeah, I kind of enjoyed catching the ball,” Ferguson admitted. “But what I've realized even at my age now is that it doesn't matter. I'm me. I definitely think I'm more outgoing. I also know where my limits are. But the point of the interview wasn't to find the person – of course, people would be interested in them. “I did a movie with a co-star who was a total idiot, and this human being was feeling insecure and angry because this person couldn't get the scenes done,” she said at the time. “And I think I was so vulnerable and uncomfortable that I would get yelled at and I would cry when I walked off the set.”
“This guy was literally looking at me in front of the whole crew and saying, 'Do you call yourself an actor?' This is what I have to work with? “I just stood there broken,” Ferguson continued. “Because this person was number one on the summons list, there was no safety net for me. No one was protecting me.”
Ferguson said this experience was the first time she spoke about herself as an actress on set. She arrived on set the next day and said to the actor, “Get off my set. You can turn off the F. I'm going to work for the tennis ball. I don't want to see you again.”
“Then I remember the producers came in and said, 'You can't do this with No. 1.' “We have to let this person on set,” Ferguson recalled. “And I said, 'The person can turn and I can act the back of the head.' And I did. I was very scared. “I feel it now when I say that.”
Ferguson eventually directed the situation to her manager, who told her: “You're right. I don't take care of everyone. I'm trying to upset this person because he's so unstable.”
