RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — In celebration of the day the Declaration of Independence was signed more than 200 years ago, for one day only, Sheetz announced that it would cut gas prices to $1,776 — sending gas prices down nearly half of the average the National .
The limited-time Sheetz promo will start just after midnight, at 12:01 a.m. on July 4th. The deal will last all day – or until you run out of fuel.
As of July 3, AAA reported The average gas price in Virginia was $3,307, with the national average at $3,535. The highest Virginia gas price was reported in Fairfax at $3,585, and the lowest price found in the state was $2,967.
While the price is still higher than what the average person is willing to pay, the average Virginia gas price appears to be slowly decreasing:

The reduced price will apply to Regular, E85 (flex-fuel), Unleaded 88, Midgrade and Premium grades at all Sheetz locations across Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Ohio.
Diesel and free ethanol (E0) are not included in the lower prices.
If you stop by the store to find the wrong price on a billboard, a Sheetz spokesperson says don’t worry.
“Gas will be $1,776 a gallon,” the spokesman confirmed. “It is displayed as $1,779 per gallon in gas price display images because Sheetz is unable to change the last digit (9) on its display signs.”
