The Giants beat the Dodgers in a historic defeat at Dodger Stadium

LOS ANGELES – Suddenly, the Giants are the hottest team in baseball.

Or maybe it wasn’t so surprising. Their 15-0 win over the Dodgers on Saturday night at Dodger Stadium was their sixth straight win, but the truth is, San Francisco has been doing it for a while now. Dating back to May 15, the Giants have won 21 of their last 30 games, a . 700 video which is the best winning percentage in the majors in that period.

“Obviously, it’s great to win a series over Los Angeles, to have a chance at sweeping tomorrow,” said starter Alex Wood, who threw five scoreless innings in his return from the 15-day injured list. “But I think we just really settle into who we are as a team. It was really fun to watch.”

During their current winning streak, the Giants have averaged 9.7 runs per game, having scored seven or more runs in all but one contest. Saturday may have been the most complete team effort, with nearly everyone contributing, especially on offense.

There was LaMonte Wade Jr. , who hit three hits, including a three-run home run in the fifth. Wade also showed great discipline by working a bases-loading walk in the sixth for JD Davis, who got him a laugh for San Francisco with a big hit.

Brandon Crawford recorded his first four hits of the season, going on a two-out drive before leaving in the seventh to replace David Villar. It was Crawford’s first game with more than three strikeouts since August 16, 2021, against the Mets.

It was a touchdown overall on offense for the 36-year-old Crawford, who went into the night batting 0.203 with a 0.630 OPS. But manager Gabe Kapler has noticed improvement in Crawford since the Giants’ series in late May in Minnesota. In a 17-game span, Crawford went 17-for-50 (. 340) with six doubles.

“Across the board, he’s got good hitting and plays good defense,” said Kapler. “He really is a pivotal part of our team when he’s on the field.”

Along with the final score, the Giants scored another win by bringing Davis into the game after he had been out of the lineup for the past three contests due to a sprained right ankle. With lefty Alex Vecia on the mound, Jock Pederson slated and the Giants already leading by five, Kapler called on Davis, who smashed a first off four batters off a 441-foot statcast to dead center.

Davis credited some of the work he did in early batting practice to his ability to drive the ball the way he did.

Wood, who has experienced rivalry on both sides, also knows only too well how much a performance like this can do.

“Every time they come to our place or we come here, it gets ramped up,” Wood said. “There’s always a big crowd. You want to come in and you want to win a series. And we went in and won the first two, playing really good ball. But I think it’s a day at a time with us. We come in every day focused. The guys work hard.
