The Pittsburgh Steelers added depth to the outside quarterback, acquiring Malik Reed from the Denver Broncos

Pittsburgh – The Pittsburgh Steelers filled in the depth of the outside quarterback to get Red’s owner From the Denver Broncos on Tuesday.

Reed’s agent, Mike McCartney, announced the move on Twitter. The Steelers swapped the 2023 sixth-round draft pick for the outside back and a seventh-round pick from the Broncos, a source confirmed to ESPN.

Steelers needed depth support in position with rib injury Alex Highsmith, although defense coordinator Terrell Austin said Highsmith has not faced any setbacks in his recovery. Reed will likely head out the group that also includes the best defensive player of the year TJ Watt and reserve back Derrek Tuszka.

“These guys can’t play every moment the way they play, the physique they play with,” Austin said. “You have to have a third player and a lot of times we’ll get a fourth player maybe we get 10 shots of the game.

“It’s important to have depth in that situation because at the end of matches, when you need someone to speed up the passer and try to finish the match, those are the people who get it done.”

Reed, who originally made the Broncos roster as a non-commissioned starter in 2019, was one of the Broncos’ most popular players, both in the locker room and in the community.

But the Broncos moved inside the quarterback Baron Browning To outside full-back outside this season and then signed Randy Gregory to a five-year, $70 million deal in free agency, leaving no room for Reid to press Depth Scheme.

For the Broncos, Reed has been the man to solve a problem in recent seasons. When von miller Reid suffered an ankle injury at the end of the season in 2020, made 13 appearances and finished leading the team with eight sacks.
