College football picks schedule: predictions against spread, odds for the top 25 games of week 10

With the release of the first College Football Playoff Rankings, the schedule is set for the remainder of the 2022 season. It begins in earnest through Week 10 with two top 10 SEC opponents’ matches that will have direct implications for the League Championship game and playoff picture.

#1 Tennessee visits Georgia #3 in the SEC on CBS Game of the week. It’s the 25th game ever in the regular season between the No. 1 (Bulldogs) and No. 2 (Volunteers) ranked teams in the AP Top 25, and comes just two weeks after Tennessee recorded its biggest win in decades by handing Alabama its first loss of the season at the stadium. Niland. Now, the Vols will attempt to prove their strength against reigning National Champion Dawgs, who will present the toughest defensive test all season for the nation’s top-ranked attack.

As if that wasn’t enough, #6 Alabama visits #10 LSU in Tiger’s favorite atmosphere: Game Night in Death Valley. Crimson Tide can’t afford to lose a second if it’s still hoping for an accessory berth, while the Bayou Bengals are looking for a special first-year win under Chip Kelly. Bama’s win would be a huge rebound from a Tennessee loss and a major feather in her cap as she tries to close out SEC West and meet either Georgia or Tennessee in the SEC Championship game.

The Securities and Exchange Commission isn’t the only conference in the spotlight on Saturday. While the Big Ten powers #2 in Ohio (in Northwestern) and #5 Michigan (in Rutgers) on the road as formidable candidates, the ACC top team is on the road as well but in a tougher competition with No. 3 Clemson visits Notre Dame as favorite 3.5 points. And while No. 13 Kansas could take two more losses than No. 7 TCU (versus Texas Tech), they nonetheless face a major match versus No. 24 in Texas as the Wildcats hope to play in the Big 12 Championship Game.

Army Air Force West Point

Featured game | West Point Black Knights Army vs Air Force Hawks

11:30 am | CBS, CBSSports.comAnd the CBS Sports . appSince 2005, he has gone under in games between 42-9-1 service academies. Although odds makers have internalized the trend over the years and ditched the totals, less of it continues to pay off. The methodology is simple and works on both sides of the ball for both teams. With service academies running more ball than almost any other team in college football, the clock rarely stops. And since the Defenses of the Service Academy are aware of the choices-based principles from rehearsing against them every day, there aren’t many mistakes that lead to long-running plays. It takes a lot of plays to move the ball down the court 3-4 yards at a time, and those runs make the clock move. All of these conditions limit the scoring and bring us back to the well for another target. Prediction: less than 40.5 – Chip Patterson

No. 1 Tennessee at No. 3 Georgia

3:30 PM | CBS, CBSSports.comAnd the CBS Sports . appI’m going out on a limb and taking Tennessee for the straight win. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll grab those points too, but this Tennessee attack is too good to be stopped even by a defense as talented and deep as Georgia’s. Volunteers will work at a fast turn and spot the absence of linebacker Nolan Smith while using quarterback Hendon Hooker and bold backs Jabari Small and Jaylen Wright on the ground to set up the cut-over plays. Stetson Bennett won’t be able to keep up, and Tennessee will take its biggest win in decades, again. Prediction: TN +8.5 – Barrett Sally

No. 6 Alabama at No. 10 LSU

Featured game | LSU Tigers vs. Alabama Crimson Tide

7 pm | ESPN, fuboTV (try for free)– LSU is a top 10 team, according to the College Football Playoff rankings, but I don’t think LSU is one of the top 10 in the country. Alabama has flaws and it’s not the same juggernaut dynamo we’re used to seeing, but it’s the better team overall in this game. Now, is he so much better than LSU that Bama will win two touchdowns? I’m not sure about that. The atmosphere in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is going to be tough for Bryce Young and the Alabama offense, and I think Crimson Tide is struggling enough to have a hard time pulling off. I take points. Prediction: LSU +13 – Tom Fornelli

No. 24 Texas in No. 13 Kansas

7 pm | FS1, fuboTV (try for free)– Texas has owned K-State for the past half decade, but this is the best Wildcats version to date. Texan’s Quinn Ewers struggled on his first run on the road, and Kansas State won’t be friendly for the young quarterback. Cats will grab the ball and limit their possessions to emerge with a sure victory. Prediction: Kansas State +2.5 – Sheehan Jiraj

No. 4 Clemson in Notre Dame

Featured game | Notre Dame Irish Fighting vs. Clemson Tigers

7:30 PM | NBC, fuboTV (try for free)– The playbook for Notre Dame against Ohio State was to rely on defense and play a ball control that allowed the Fighting Irish to cling tightly to the Buckeyes as deep into the game as possible. Clemson also has a history under Dabo Swinney of relying on his defence, playing the field and trying to limit fouls in these big regular season encounters. A defensive fight should result in a lot of field attempts and fewer points on the scoreboard. Prediction: less than 44 – Chip Patterson
