Drake is the latest artist to be hit by a thrown object during concert – Deadline

Continuing the recent trend of artists being assaulted with objects thrown on stage, Drake has become the latest victim.

The Canadian rapper was struck on the left wrist Wednesday night in Chicago while performing his song “So Anxious.” Drake looked at the phone on the floor, but didn’t indicate that he was hurt or particularly upset, and continued with the show, as part of his “It’s All a Blur” tour.

He became the latest victim in an annoying trend of fans throwing things on stage in order to get a clickable video moment. Artists including Bebe Rexha, Pink, Kid Cudi, Steve Lacey Kelsey Ballerini and Ava Max fell victim to it. And singer Adele recently warned off stage that she will fight anyone who throws anything at her.

The most serious injury was Rexha, who was hit near the eye by a caster’s phone, causing her to collapse on stage. A 27-year-old man was arrested.

Ballerini stopped her show in Idaho to address her audience after something was thrown.

“Can we talk about what happened?” she asked. “All I care about is keeping everyone safe. If you don’t feel safe at any time, please tell someone around you. If anyone is pushing too much or you have that gut feeling, just always report it. … Don’t throw things away, you know?”

Adele had the strongest reaction. She told her audience this week, “Have you noticed how people look, I forgot show etiquette right now? People just throw s-s on stage, have you seen them? I dare you. I dare you to throw something at me and I’ll kill you.”
