The former “The Tonight Show” host said Jay Leno is recovering from burn injuries after a gasoline fire diverse.
You got serious burns from a petrol fire. I’m fine. “I just need a week or two to get back on my feet,” Leno said in a statement to the newspaper.
CNN has reached out to Lino’s representatives for comment.
An avid car collector, Lino was working on one of his cars in his garage when it caught fire. He is being treated for injuries at the Grossman-Bern Center in Los Angeles.
Amy Bennett, a hospital spokesperson, told CNN in a statement that Leno is in stable condition, being treated for “burns he sustained on his face and hands from a petrol accident in his garage over the weekend.”
“He has a good sense of humor and is moved by all inquiries regarding his condition and wishes him well,” the statement said. He wants everyone to know he’s doing a good job and is at “the best burn center in the United States.” ”
Leno, 72, canceled an appearance at The Financial Brand Forum conference in Las Vegas on Sunday, according to a report by the Financial Times. PeopleQuoting the organizers.
“His family was not able to provide us with many details, but there was a very serious medical emergency preventing Jay from travelling,” said an email to conference attendees obtained by the post. “All we know is that he is alive, so we are praying for him and his family tonight.”
The conference had featured Leno as the special opening night performer for attendees who had purchased a gold ticket to the event.
