Increase humanitarian aid in Gaza

President Joe Biden outlined a number of steps he urged the Israeli prime minister to take as quickly as possible, CNN reported. According to the information, these measures include opening the Erez border crossing to northern Gaza and the port of Ashdod in southern Israel, to allow humanitarian aid to reach the people who need it. These measures were not just a suggestion, but the United States wanted to implement them as a matter of priority. Biden called the incident “unacceptable,” according to a White House description of the conversation. On Thursday evening, “the Israeli Security Cabinet approved these three measures to increase humanitarian aid in the besieged Strip.”

It was Biden's first call since the attack on World Central Kitchen employees, in which seven people lost their lives. Biden reportedly warned Netanyahu that there would be “severe consequences” if Israel did not change its approach to the war in the Strip. US officials declined to specify what changes in US policy were discussed on the call, either in the official White House readout or in public statements after the call.

Is the United States seeking to stop arms supplies?

Earlier, Nancy Pelosi, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, joined 40 other Democratic lawmakers in calling on President Joe Biden to halt the shipment of American weapons to Israel. This comes after the Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that more than 33,000 people died in the war. The report confirms that there is severe famine in the densely populated coastal region, which exacerbates the existing humanitarian crisis. This has led to global criticism of war and the arms trade.
