Shadows of the Damned are regenerated

After years of being mired in purgatory, 2011’s Shadow of the Damned got another shot in the spotlight via a remaster. Moreover, developer Grasshopper Manufacture is holding its own E3-style presentation next week.

Shadows of the Damned was the product of a collaboration between Goichi Suda (AKA Suda51) from Grasshopper, who wrote the game, and Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami, who served as producer. It’s a third-person shooter about demon hunter Garcia Hotspur, who must rescue his girlfriend after she’s kidnapped by underworld forces with the help of his prank-loving demon, Johnson. The game’s supernatural action and wry sense of humor made it generally likable upon release (we scored it 9.25 out of 10 in our review), but it’s never been carried beyond its original PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms. That’s about to change.

The teaser trailer doesn’t reveal any details about the remaster, but we’ll likely learn more at the Grasshopper Direct launch event on June 14. The event celebrates the studios’ 25th anniversary and kicks off at 9 PM PT / 12 AM ET, so fans in the US, will have to brew an extra cup of coffee if they want to watch the action live.

Are you a Shadows of the Damned fan, or does this remaster urge you to give it a shot? Let us know in the comments!
