If you’ve been online for the past couple of weeks, you probably know that Ned Vollmer left Try Guys after it turned out that he was. betraying his wife with a colleague.
It came as a huge surprise to fans because, after all, Vollmer was known as a man wifeand Try Wife Ariel were a regular feature of the group’s content.
So they wrote History Night Cookbook Together, discovering relationship-related things has been part of their brand.
But when photos showed Ned kissing video producer Alexandria Hering at a bar in New York City, it quickly became the only thing anyone on Twitter or TikTok wanted to talk about.
Vollmer, Eugene Lee Yang, Zach Kornfield and Keith Habersberger created the Try Guys group while working at BuzzFeed in 2014. (They left and started their own production company in 2019, which BuzzFeed Inc. has a financial stake in.)
It was clearly a big BuzzFeed news story; Internet culture is an essential component of what we write about.
This week’s host Brendan Gleeson drops the breaking news of Tray Jays’ reaction with the attention of a White House reporter.
Ego Nwodim stands by anyone who has been completely baffled by the scandal and the impact it has suddenly had on people. “What in the world is Jay Jay?” She asks.
Bowen Yang, in particular, captures the intensity that Try Guys’ real-life experience brought to the situation.
But for some people, the jokes missed a critical point – that Vollmer not only cheated, he cheated with someone he worked with less powerful than him.
Other people were upset because Ned – the one who did something worth apologizing for – didn’t make fun of him.
Some praised Try Guys for taking their work environment seriously.
