A New Enemy for Donald Trump Former New Jersey governor Chris Christie, a Republican, is running for president in 2024, according to official documents filed Tuesday (June 6). A former ally of Donald Trump has become one of his fiercest opponents, casting himself as the only candidate standing against the former president. Chris Christie is scheduled to make a public announcement Tuesday night in New Hampshire.

The 60-year-old Republican, known for his combative style, filed his candidacy with the Federal Election Commission (FEC). He is set to officially announce his candidacy on Wednesday in an already crowded arena of right-wing White House contenders such as Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and former Vice President Mike Pence.

In 2016, he had already sought the nomination in the Republican primary, before bowing out and endorsing Donald Trump. During that time, he became one of her closest advisors. But she says she broke up with the billionaire because he refused to admit he lost the 2020 presidential race to Democrat Joe Biden.
